Burns Mechanical is searching for a Safety Manager in Horsham, PA. The successful candidate will play a key role in aligning the safety goals with the business objectives. You will develop and implement safety programs, and establish safety best practices to continuously improve and promote the company’s overall safety culture and ensure a safe, healthy and accident-free work environment. You will assist in claim management and follow open claims to closure.  You must be an innovative, effective communicator, and a leader who is able to coach, influence, and mentor others.

Safety Manager responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develops specific objectives and strategies to maintain an effective safety program that complies with federal, state and local safety regulations
  • Conducts regular, comprehensive on-site safety assessments of projects and constant, ongoing monitoring of corrective actions taken
  • Develops and administers safety incentive programs, and ensure their effectiveness
  • Plans and implements programs to train employees in work site safety practices
  • Conducts interactive training
  • Provides information, signs, posters, personal protective equipment, barriers, etc. to projects
  • Reviews accident and incident documentation to insure all required records and reports are complete and accurate; ensures corrective action is implemented
  • Participates in investigating all accidents resulting in lost time injuries or major property, liability or equipment damage; produces investigative reports
  • Report workmen’s compensation, automobile, and general liability claims to the insurance carrier and follow the claims to closure
  • Prepares all required regulatory reports and ensures they are submitted timely
  • Maintains safety files and records; prepares reports for management as needed
  • Recommends and enforces disciplinary actions
  • Ensures company policies and procedures are understood and implemented consistently
  • Provide effective communications to all appropriate personnel concerning relevant safety information, policies, and procedures
  • < > travel when requiredA BS in Occupational Safety & Health Management and at least 3-5 years safety experience or 10 years safety experience without a degree
  • Thorough understanding of and ability to enforce all federal, state, local, and Company rules and regulations.
  • Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures
  • Ability to interact with the insurance carrier, claimants, attorneys, etc.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills to build effective working relationships
  • Ability to lead, influence and gain trust of others at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to train, coach, and mentor others
  • Good computer skill
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
  • Position is full-time
